Sushmita Mukherjee is a complete natural when it comes to playing a baddie.
It is Sushmita’s talent of portraying any character with conviction especially the wicked ones that landed her with the role of Devki, a cruel and conniving matron of an orphanage in upcoming show Chhoti Si Zindagi. Elders might laud her for her impeccable talent, but its hard for the innocent children to understand that the lady in real life is not vicious like her on-screen avatar.
The actress has now taken it upon herself to scare little kids out of their wits. Apparently, when the child-artistes cast in the role of orphans on the show were shown her photographs, they were all extremely reluctant to come in front of her. The children were so scared of her vicious look that not even the charm of appearing on TV could prompt them to shoot with the actress. Of course, they were relieved later when they realised how warm and affectionate she really is as a person.
Speaking of her new assignment, Sushmita said, “Playing villainous, ferocious, negative characters has always been my forte. JD Majethia loved my work in the film King Uncle where I played a character on similar lines. But if you thought the matron from the movie was mean, all I want to say is... hold your breath and wait for the diabolical Devki.” We are already trembling with fear, Sushmita!
