Nawazuddin Siddiqui keen to foray into Marathi cinema
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is on a roll since his Gangs of Wasseypur (GOW) days. The actor who will be seen in a small role in Amitabh Bachchan’s upcoming TV series Yudh, is also keen on working in regional cinema; more specifically Marathi cinema. “I have watched some Marathi films and liked the kind of subjects and portrayal in them.”
When we told him about his GOW co-star Huma Qureshi doing the Marathi film Highway directed by Umesh Kulkarni, he was pleasantly surprised.

“Is she?” he asked adding, “Well, if it’s Umesh’s film it has to be good. I love the kind of work he does.”

So will you do a Marathi film with Umesh? “Of course I will. If Umesh is directing the film and Girish (Kulkarni) is writing it, I will accept the offer without giving it a second thought. I recently watched Deool and was blown away by it. Both of them are masters of their work.”
Umesh is all praises for Nawaz as well. “He is effortless in his acting. I met and interacted with him a few years ago at Cannes and we have known each other since then.” On whether he has any role for Nawaz in mind Umesh replied, “I don’t have anything immediately but if there is a role that requires his abilities I will definitely approach him.”
