Nakuul Mehta shares video of severe Mumbai waterlogging, prays for citizens’ safety
Mumbai continued to witness heavy rainfall for the fourth straight day on Tuesday, causing major waterlogging in several parts of the city. Many areas recorded more than 200 mm of rainfall within the last 24 hours. The eastern suburb of Vikhroli reported the highest rainfall at 255.5 mm.
In a video posted on his Instagram, Nakuul was seen travelling on a ferry while it continued to rain heavily. As he recorded the surroundings, the clip showed how areas around him were completely waterlogged due to the non-stop downpour. Towards the end of the video, he made the Christian cross-my-heart gesture to silently pray for the safety of people in the city. Posting the video, the actor captioned it, “T’s (today’s) been quite a day.”
Latest Updates on Mumbai Rains
According to recent updates, the heavy rainfall has severely affected the city’s transport system. Train services between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Thane stations, along with the Harbour Line from Kurla to CSMT, have been discontinued until further notice.
The Mithi river’s water levels are also rising dangerously. At present, the river has touched 3.10 meters, only slightly below the danger mark of 4 meters.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also spoke about the seriousness of the situation. He said, “In the last two days, Maharashtra has experienced heavy rainfall. Several districts have received red and orange alerts. Even in the next three days, till August 21, almost half of Maharashtra remains under these alerts. We have discussed the safeguards that must be taken in light of this.”
