Naina Gupta on balancing Karwa Chauth and work: The fast is an expression of deep love, loyalty and commitment
Actress Naina Gupta, best known for her role in Kabhi Kabhie Ittefaq Sey, shared her thoughts on celebrating Karwa Chauth, a festival she holds close to her heart. Known for her grace both on and off screen, Naina believes that beyond its rituals, Karwa Chauth embodies the spirit of love, devotion, and companionship that strengthens marital bonds.
Speaking about what the festival means to her, Naina said, “The festival symbolises love, good luck, and marital bliss. I feel participating and celebrating the rituals and customs connects us with our heritage and family. This creates a strong sense of friendship and mutual support. The fast is an expression of deep love, loyalty, and commitment within the marriage. It is seen as strengthening the emotional bond and spiritual connection between spouses.”
Even with a demanding schedule, the actress is determined to keep her traditions alive. She shared how she manages to balance fasting and work: “I’m shooting for an upcoming TV show. So I won’t be home and will spend my time shooting. But I will keep my fast and will manage. Thankfully we are not shooting outdoors and the team is good. So I can easily manage.”
Reflecting on her earlier celebrations, Naina fondly recalled, “I always enjoyed this festival and never complained. Me and my husband are more like friends. I enjoy doing things for him, and he never fails to win my heart by doing things back for me. We always stand together and complete each other.”
Naina’s husband, Akshay Kumar, who serves in the Indian Air Force, has been her biggest support system. She credits him for motivating her to pursue acting after a successful stint as a national-level sportswoman. Having made her debut with Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman in 2016, Naina has since appeared in shows like Kundali Bhagya, Suhaagan, and Jamuniya, steadily carving her own identity in the television industry.
Her story beautifully mirrors the essence of Karwa Chauth — a celebration of love, resilience, and partnership rooted in trust and understanding.
