"I did this show because I feel this kind of story needs to be told. Even I have a daughter in real-life and there are issues in our country when it comes to a girl child. No matter how modern we are or which part of the city we are in, I don’t think the mentality of people has changed much. Even in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai educated people practice prejudices against girls. I will give you my example. In Mumbai when my daughter was born, a lady from neighbourhood came to congratulate us. I was angry and felt disgusted when she said, 'Don’t worry! Next time, you will have a son'. She was disappointed. I didn’t know how to react at the situation. She was elder and I didn't want to get into any bad situation. So I just remained quiet," shared Iqbal.

Iqbal plays Charan Pawania a hard-working, peace-loving and religious farmer in 'Waaris'.
