Barkha Singh, who has acted in shows like Girls On Top and Yeh Hai Aashiqui, was last seen in Jaat Ki Jugni, which ended five years ago.
The actress hasn’t been seen on the small screen thereafter. Sharing the reason behind that, she says, “I stopped doing TV five years ago because the kind of work which I wanted to do wasn’t coming my way. I wasn’t able to relate to the characters that I was being offered. As I was 24 years then, I was able to relate to the content which was being created on OTT and social media. I won’t do TV until I feel I have a connect with the project I take up.”
‘One can’t get work just based on social media following’Barkha has made her space in the web world with shows like Masaba Masaba, Breathe and Engineering Girls among others. While she has experience of being an actor and an influencer, she feels that the lines between the two are blurring. She says, “Sometimes actors complain that influencers are given work based on their following, but only a handful of creators are actors. So, we need to give them the credit for their skills. One can’t get work just based on social media following.”
‘I am hungry for work’Barkha is hoping to do a variety of roles in the future. She says, “I am someone who is hungry for work. At the same time, I am pleased and happy with where I am right now. Sometimes my friends tell me I undervalue myself. But I feel I have a long way to go.”
