My daughter Aashi's my biggest support system: Shubhangi Atre

Unlike other actresses, Shubhangi Atre gained popularity only after becoming a mother -- she bagged a role in shows like Kasautii Zindagi Kay, followed by Kasturi and is currently doing Bhabiji Ghar Pe Hai! For Shubhangi, her motherhood journey has been a special one and her daughter Aashi, 18, has been the part of all her highs and lows.

Aashi has been such a sensible child throughoutI am blessed that Aashi chose me as her mother. She has been the most understanding person in my life. For me it wasn't easy to leave Aashi behind while I’d go to shoot for my shows. She was a toddler, so even though my entire family was taking care of her, but mother's guilt truly hits you. I had to take this tough call to pursue my career, but Aashi has been such a sensible child throughout. By the time she was in middle school, she’d come home, prepare her own snack, study and go out to play. She made motherhood a cakewalk.

We can talk about anything and everything with each other.Aashi is my best friend, she has been my biggest support. We love to do most things together -- travelling, shopping, going to cafes and restos. We also love baking together. We can talk about anything and everything with each other. We recently went on a vacation with her friends in Goa. So that is the kind of bond we share. . Aashi has been such a good child, I hardly had to invest time in making her disciplined - she made parenting easy phase for me.


Aashi was her support when her marriage ended Aashi has been my biggest strength while I was going through this phase (Shubangi’s separation from her husband Peeyush Poorey). She has been very supportive and has understood why we needed to move out of the marriage. Even now she keeps meeting her father once a week.


Aashi is moving out soon to pursue her studies abroad.Aashi always wanted to study astrophysics. She is going to Chicago this August to study the same. I am very happy that she is going to live her dream. As a parent, I have helped her in every possible way, but it is going to be tough for me to come back home after work and not see her. I am going to really miss having her around.
