Mona Singh: Don't believe in supernatural but did 'Kawach' as it is challenging to do such roles
Ekta Kapoor's new show ‘Kawach...Kaali Shaktiyon Se’ is all set to go on air from June 11. The upcoming miniseries will be replacing the popular show ‘Naagin’. The show stars popular TV actors Mona Singh, Vivek Dhaiya and Maheck Chahal. Mona Singh was in Delhi to promote her upcoming show and in an exclusive interview with TV Times, Mona Singh spoke about her upcoming supernatural TV soap.

What is Kawach all about ? Mona: The show is a love story of Paridhi and Rajbir with a supernatural touch. I am playing the role of Paridhi and Vivek Dhaiya will be seen playing the role of Rajbir. Kawach revolves around an evil spirit called Manjulika's obsession towards Rajbir and how his love Paridhi protects him from the dark elements. Maheck Chahal will be essaying the role of the evil spirit, Manjulika.
Tell us something about your character. Mona: Paridhi is an educated and a modern woman who will go to any extent to protect her husband from supernatural powers. It is loosely inspired from the legendary tale of Savitri, who wins her husband's life back from the Gods of Death, Yamraj.
Do you believe in paranormal activities? No, I don't believe in these paranormal activities.
Then why are you doing this show? I am doing it because as an actor it is very challenging. I will be seen possessed, I will have a completely different body language and will be doing things which I haven't done before as an actor.
Did you do any kind of homework for your character. Mona: Ekta (Kapoor) is a great story teller and she has sketched out each and every character herself. So, I am going according to her and the director's vision.

Kawach will be replacing Colors' popular show 'Naagin', any kind of stress you feel? Mona: It's a huge responsibility. Yes, we do feel the pressure. We will try to do our best, will try to entertain the audience as much as we can. And I think, if the channel has given us that slot, they have full faith in us.
Were you disappointed when 'Pyar Ko Ho Jane Do' went off air? Mona: It was anyway a finite series but yes it ended before its time. There was a little bit of disappointment because I really liked the show. Every show has its own destiny just like films. I enjoyed playing Preet in the show.
Are you enjoying playing Paridhi in Kawach? Mona: I am completely loving it. It's a whole new experience for me.
Your videos with Gaurav Gera is ruling the internet these days. Your Jassi Jaise Koi Nahi's best friend, Nandu is your best friend in real life too? Mona: I love those videos, Gaurav Gera is my soul mate. I visit him whenever I have an off. He is my neighbour. It's always fun to work with Gaurav.
Do you like Chutki or Billi Mousi? Mona: I like Chutki more, Chutki is so mean and bitchy. She is an overconfident woman who needs a slap. Whereas Billi Mousi is very real. That is how every Punjabi lady speaks.
How is Ekta Kapoor as a boss? Is she bossy? Mona: I share a special bond with her. She loves her work but she never comes on the sets.
