Mohit Malhotra: Before the world knows you by your name, there’s a mother quietly shaping who you become
Actor Mohit Malhotra, known for shows like Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Sasural Genda Phool, Jamai Raja, and Bhagya Lakshmi, turned nostalgic while reflecting on Mother’s Day and the role his mother, Anju Malhotra, has played in shaping his life and personality.
Recalling his childhood memories, Mohit says the celebrations back then were simple yet heartfelt. “It was obviously a much more innocent and simple time. I remember in school we used to make cards, write little notes, or try to surprise our moms in our own small ways,” he shares. “At that age, you don’t fully understand what your mother really does for you… you just know she’s always there.”
As he grew older, Mohit says his understanding of motherhood deepened emotionally. “When I look back now, I feel the older you get, the more emotional Mother’s Day becomes because you finally start understanding the amount of love, patience, and sacrifices that went unnoticed while growing up,” he says.
Speaking about his mother’s influence, the actor admits that much of who he is today comes from her upbringing and strength. “Whatever I am as a person today, a huge part of it comes from her. Not just emotionally, but even in the way I deal with people, handle situations, and stay resilient—I’ve learned a lot just by watching her,” he shares.
The actor adds that the qualities people appreciate in him today are deeply rooted in his mother’s values. “Whether it’s my discipline, grounded nature, or the way I carry myself, somewhere the credit goes back to her,” he says, before concluding with an emotional thought: “Before the world knows you by your name, there’s a mother somewhere quietly shaping the person you become.”
