Karan Thakur, who was last seen in the TV show Imlie, spoke about why it is important for actors to take care of their mental health along with their physical health.
"I see a lot of actors who are regular with physical workout and never miss to post a story on social media regarding their gym, pilates or dance class, but no one ever discloses if they are visiting a therapist or taking a counselling session. Sadly it is still considered as a taboo in our society," he said.
“In 2020 during lockdown, I was alone in Mumbai without work and limited money. The untimely demise of Sushant Singh Rajput was something which hit me really hard as he was someone many outsiders looked up to in the acting Industry, that was the time I started practicing meditation and mindfulness to keep myself away from negative and self-destructive thoughts,” he said.
Karan also added, “As our profession is a freelancing profession we may face rejections and failures time and again. It is just not possible to get selected for every audition we give. That is why we actors have to be mentally strong to face the negative effects of this glamour-driven profession as much as we are eager to bask in the glory of success.”
“Meditation really helps me to handle whenever rejection comes my way. I strongly believe that every actor or artist should meditate as it is an exercise that calms the brain. It makes you internally strong and helps you improve your craft and overall focus," Karan concluded.
