MasterChef India: Chef Vikas Khanna and Chef Ranveer Brar pay an emotional tribute to Ratna Tamang

MasterChef India has always been more than a cooking competition; it is a stage for the nation's most profound human stories. Time and again, the show has recognised chefs whose journeys inspire millions. In its latest episode, the spotlight turns once again to such a story as Chef Ranveer Brar warmly welcomes back an audition superstar and internet sensation, Chef Ratna Tamang.

Hailing from Nepal, Ratna’s life changed forever in 2015 when a tragic accident resulted in the loss of both his hands. The room fell silent, when he first stepped into the MasterChef auditions. Using specialized adaptive tools and an incredible sense of precision, he prepared his dish with a calm that defied his circumstances.

Now returning to the MasterChef kitchen as a guest, Ratna was asked by Chef Ranveer Brar, “What has changed for you after that?” He warmly responded, “When the video came out, people were congratulating me, and my followers and subscribers were booming. What happened, how it happened, it all happened after I came here to MasterChef. So, thank you very much.”


The judges, who have seen thousands of plates, were visibly moved by the man standing before them. The moment grew even more emotional as Chef Vikas Khanna paid a heartfelt tribute, saying, “We bow our heads in front of you because you have not only taught India, but you have taught the entire world about courage.”

Chef Ranveer Brar echoed the sentiment, adding, “I am grateful to you because you taught me a very big lesson in life that day.” Ratna Tamang’s journey encapsulates the spirit of a nation moving confidently on the front foot—guided by pride, partnership, ambition, and unity.
