Manav Gohil: People don’t approach me with inconsequential roles now

. After playing a number of positive roles over the years, Manav is happy to portray something different on screen. Also, today what matters to him is the character he is playing, irrespective of whether he is the conventional lead or not. "The role has to be impactful," says Manav.

In the web space, he says, one has to be careful about the role you take up because it is a start-to-finish role. However, television is a different ball-game altogether. “On TV, things keep changing. As long as the character is not inconsequential, I don’t mind. Anyway people don’t approach me with inconsequential roles now. They know what I can bring to the table. Yes, I have a habit of asking people why me? They say that they want to make the character look charming. So it becomes my job to make sure that when the audiences see me they can feel that charm.”

, and Super 30. But the kind of work he gets on TV, he couldn’t get in Bollywood, he admits. But times are changing. He says, “As a matter of fact I think the walls have broken down and doors have opened up. One does not have to confine himself to one medium. As a matter of fact, I have two releases in Gujarati industry this year. I was not expecting much from Bollywood because I was not in the race. I was in that race long back when people from TV were not encouraged much."

Manav is a private person and tends to keep a low-profile, which he knows is not the best way to be when you are part of showbiz. He says, "I think I am not able to market myself well sometimes. I am a very private person who doesn’t like partying or socialising much. But then I'm grateful that I do get good roles which I happily take it up."
