Mahek Chahal: Dilliwaale gaali bahut dete hain
Mahek Chahal was in the capital recently to make her theatre debut in Animal Farm.
For someone who has spent most of her life in Norway, Mahek is well-acquainted with the city.
Talking to us about how she is a Punjabi and hence minces no words about being a diehard foodie, she said, “I love butter chicken and dal makhni in Delhi.”

Ask her how she finds Delhi different from Mumbai, where she has been pursuing her career in the film industry, and she says, “Delhi is more spacious.
It has wider roads and highways, where you can actually drive a car. Delhi is so systematic that way. In addition, I like the greenery here and the architecture of the various monuments in the city not only makes it visually appealing, but also lends an old world charm to it.”

Another thing that amazes Mahek about Delhiites is their ability to use expletives. “Dilliwaale gaali bahut dete hain. I understand it’s not always to offend someone, but it appears as if it’s part of the culture,” she says.
