Former Bigg Boss contestant Ajaz Khan is trailing in the Maharashtra Assembly elections from the Versova constituency, with just 131 votes recorded so far, as per the latest figures from the Election Commission of India.
Despite having over 5.6 million followers on Instagram, Khan’s performance has been overshadowed by other candidates and even the NOTA (None of the Above) option, which has garnered 1,022 votes.
Haroon Khan is in the lead in the Versova constituency with 58,047 votes, while the NOTA (None of the Above) option has received 1,022 votes, nearly six times the amount Mr. Khan has received.
Social media has been abuzz with reactions to Khan’s disappointing vote count, with many pointing out the striking difference between his online popularity and his actual political backing.
The voter turnout in Versova was recorded at 42.2 percent. Traditionally a Congress stronghold, the Versova seat saw a total of 16 candidates competing in this election. Maharashtra experienced a level of voter participation not seen in over thirty years. The state’s election was expected to be a closely contested battle between the rival alliances, Mahayuti (BJP-Shiv Sena-NCP) and Maha Vikas Aghadi (NCP(SP)-Shiv Sena(UBT)-Congress).
However, on Saturday, initial trends indicated that the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance was headed towards a decisive majority in the Maharashtra Assembly.
