Kunal Singh: It took nearly three hours to get into bald look each time
Actor Kunal Singh recently underwent a major physical transformation for his latest role for an OTT project, sporting a bald look created entirely through special effects makeup. Calling it a tough yet rewarding journey, the actor says the experience pushed him beyond his comfort zone and helped him grow creatively.
Known for his work in shows like Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, Naagin 4 and Pavitra Rishta 2.0, Kunal revealed that this was his first time undergoing a bald transformation using prosthetics and advanced makeup techniques.
The process, he says, was far from easy. The special effects makeup took nearly three hours to complete each time. “One of the toughest parts was the constant tightness around my head,” Kunal shares. “It required a lot of patience and physical endurance. It took nearly three hours to get into a bald look each time. Sitting still for long hours, dealing with discomfort and staying mentally focused was challenging.”
Despite the physical strain, the end result made everything worthwhile. The bald look appeared seamless on screen, and Kunal’s commitment was appreciated by the director — something he describes as extremely motivating. He says, "That appreciation made me feel all the effort was worth it. This wasn’t just a physical transformation for me, it was a learning experience. For an actor who wants to be versatile, it’s important to take on such roles. These tough processes shape you, teach you discipline and expand your range as a performer. It tested me, taught me, and reminded me why I love being an actor.”
