Ahead of International Men's Day, actor Kushagra Nautiyal, who essayed the role of Sid in Kumkum Bhaygya revealed losing job interviews to women.
International Men's Day, observed on November 19, aims to raise awareness about men's health while celebrating their socio-economic, cultural, and political contributions. It also highlights the positive impact men bring to society and inspires them to serve as role models.
He said, "I remember initially I lost quite a few job interviews in the beginning to a few women. But I never complained about it, as I thought it is how it is. But if we talk about equality... it needs to be equal for both male and female members of the society."
The actor feels the need for efforts focused on drawing attention to issues faced by men, including alleged biases and abuse, through TV shows.
He continued, "TV shows are the best medium to educate society on several social issues. I feel that there should be some stories on air that actually highlights the life of a man. Mental health and depression among men is actually a thing no body talks about since the society expects the 'Man' to be the 'Man' always. Some real storylines paired with relatable plots can actually the content of the future."
He added, "The event is an opportunity for people to appreciate and celebrate the men in their lives. Be it a father, brother, or husband, men play major roles in their lives and the contribution they make to society for the greater good of all. However, the day is not just about celebrating men but also improving gender relations and promoting gender equality.''
Kushagra is also a video director, singer and a guitarist by profession. Before becoming an actor, he used to play Bollywood and Rock Music. Today he also runs a production house.
