Actor Sumedh Mudgalkar, who plays Lord Krishna in RadhaKrishn, feels Lord Krishna’s teachings, philosophies and ideals are relevant even today. The actor who is currently shooting for the new track
RadhaKrishn — Krishn Arjun Gatha, says, “The day is special for everyone who loves and worships Lord Krishna, who is called by different names. We celebrated the day because he was born today.
He appeared on the earth to kill Kans and give the world the lesson of the Bhagwad Geeta.”
Sumedh watched and observed works of other actors who played Krishna on screen — SD Banerjee,
Swwapnil Joshi,
Nitish Bharadwaj, Saurabh Raj Jain — to prepare for his role. He says, “Krishna Janmashtami is not only celebrated in India but also in countries around the world. The key significance of Janmashtami is to encourage goodwill and to discourage bad thoughts, bad actions. Krishn Janmashtami also celebrates togetherness. This holy occasion aims at bringing people together, promising unity and faith among communities.”
Owing to the pandemic, the celebrations for the celebrations are low-key this year. No Dahi Handi events are being organised across the country. Sumedh, reminiscing last year’s memories of Dahi Handi, and how his show recreated a memorable Dahi Handi scene, says, “Last year on Janmashtami, the viewers witnessed one of the largest human pyramids for Dahi handi on RadhaKrishn. With our new chapter of
RadhaKrishn - Krishn Arjun Gatha we are now stepping in the untold facets of Krishn and Arjuns' bond and how Krishn chose Arjun as his Saarthi.”
