Kishwer Merchant reveals Suyyash Rai wants a second child; says, “He wants a baby girl but I’m 44, so…”

Kishwer Merchant and Suyyash Rai, who got married in 2016, are well known for their adorable love story. The two have been quite open about how their age gap and inter-faith relationship were never a problem between them and how they convinced their families for marriage. They recently appeared on a podcast with Rashami Desai, where they opened up about their marriage, personal life, and much more.





Suyyash revealed how he wants a second child, a baby girl- but Kishwer isn’t ready for it. When Rashami asked him if he wants another child, he said, “I’ve been behind Kishwer for a very long time because I want a baby girl, but she doesn’t want it, I think.” Kishwer responded by saying, “Rashami, he already wants a baby girl so badly, so don’t remind him about all this. I’m 44, and I don’t think I can do it now.” Rashami then said, “People do it in their 50s also. You’re so fit and everything, so don’t think like that.”




Talking about their parenthood journey, Kishwer added, “It wasn’t a planned child, but we just accepted him with open arms. Two weeks before realising that I was pregnant, we told my mom that we are pet parents and we don’t want to have a child. However, after two weeks, I was standing in front of my mother and saying, ‘I’m pregnant.’ She was like, ‘What? How did you manage in two weeks?’ We conceived in November, and I didn’t know. In January, I realised that I had skipped my periods, which meant I was pregnant.” Suyyash then added, “He’s a miracle child. I’m very happy to have him in my life.”

The couple also spoke about their age gap. Talking about it, Suyyash said, “If she’s eight years older than me, then yes, she has seen more of life. If she has been in the industry eight or nine years before me, then she has seen much more than I have. So if she has the experience, the fame, and the name, that belongs to her she worked hard for it, she earned it. How can I even feel insecure thinking she’s more famous than me? Dude, she’s been there for twenty-five years. Show me anyone who can stay in this industry for twenty-five years, with dignity and consistent work. It’s no joke.”
