Khushbu Thakkar, last seen in Suhaagan, has been cast in a grey-shaded role in an upcoming show, where Mishkat Varma plays the male lead. The show is loosely inspired by the popular Tamil drama Deivamagal, which originally starred Vani Bhojan and Krishna Raghunandan.

A source close to the production shared, “Khushbu will portray the sister of Samiksha Jaiswal’s character, who plays the antagonist. Together, they will be partners in crime. Khushbu’s character will have both grey shades and a touch of humour.”

Khushbu confirmed that she is part of the show but refused to share any further details.

In a previous interview regarding her role in Suhaagan, she revealed that she had initially auditioned for the role of Phoolwati bua. However, that didn’t materialise, and she was later offered the role of Phoolwati’s daughter instead. She said, “That’s when I thought, why not take on a younger character rather than playing a bua or chachi? Phoolwati uses my character to carry out her mean tricks to torment the lead girls, Bindiya (Garima Kishnani) and Payal (Anshula Dhawan). It’s a Cinderella-like storyline where my character is full of herself and spares no effort to trouble Bindiya.”

The actress also expressed that she had no issues playing older characters on screen, as long as it felt comfortable. She said, “I should be convincing in the role, whether it’s younger or older than my actual age. In shows like Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi, Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye, and Sanjivani, I’ve played my age. However, in Suhaagan, I’m playing a character who is six years younger than me, which is rare and fun. I’m aware of the clichés surrounding the roles I’ve played, which are often airheaded characters who either eat too much or have broken marriages. I’m tired of those stereotypes. People need to understand that not every curvy person is insecure or lacking in confidence.”
