Kaun Banega Crorepati 16: Amitabh Bachchan opens up about his affection for Shrikhand and the comfort of Maharashtrian cuisines
The 16th season of Kaun Banega Crorepati , hosted by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan , has kept the audiences engaged with its exhilarating gameplay and inspiring human stories. In an upcoming episode, viewers will see Kishor Aher from Bid, Maharashtra, as he takes his place on the hot seat. As a dedicated librarian preparing for a competitive exam, Kishor dreams of establishing an educational institute in his village as a tribute to his beloved grandfather.
In an delightful conversation about food, Mr. Bachchan beamed as he reminisced about his love for Shrikhand. He shared heartfelt memories from his early days, when he was just starting his career and had limited funds. During that time, he often visited a small Maharashtrian restaurant in Mumbai that served delicious food at affordable prices. In a playful exchange, Kishor asked Mr. Bachchan about his favorite Maharashtrian dish, excluding the popular Vada Pav. With a twinkle in his eyes, Mr. Bachchan replied, "Vada Pav has become universal now, but Shrikhand is my favorite sweet. There's something truly special about it."
Amitabh Bachchan continued as his eyes sparkled with nostalgia as he reflected on those simpler times, sharing, "When I first arrived in Mumbai in search of a job, I didn’t know much about the local food, and I didn’t have much money. But there was this one place, I'm not sure if it still exists. They served Maharashtrian food at very reasonable prices, so we used to go there to eat. That’s where I had Shrikhand for the first time, and from that moment, I became a regular. The food was both delicious and affordable, so I often went back."
Mr. Bachchan also recalled a nearby bakery where food would typically cost 4 rupees, but after midnight, the price dropped to 2 rupees. "I used to wait until 12 a.m. with my friends just to grab something to eat at the discounted price," he added with a nostalgic chuckle.
