Karanvir Sharma reflects on mentors and lessons that shaped him: “Acting is the easy part, waiting to act is the difficult one”

On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, actor Karanvir Sharma looked back at the mentors and guides who have shaped his journey beyond acting.“One of the most important lessons I carry is from my guru, Mr. Anupam Kher,” he shared. “Acting is the easy part. Waiting to act is the difficult one. You wait for the right role, the right audition, the right shot. What you do in that waiting period is what really defines you.” Karanvir shared that patience and persistence have become key values that help him stay focused in his career.Karanvir studied at Maneckji Cooper School in Mumbai, which has also been home to stars like Rani Mukerji and Farhan Akhtar. The actor recalled how his early years in school gave him life-long memories and teachings. Remembering one such moment from his school days, he said, “In Grade 7, my geography teacher surprised the class by saying I was the one who truly listened and learned, even if I wasn’t the topper. That moment taught me that learning isn’t about competing, it’s about understanding.”Along with teachers and mentors, Karanvir’s biggest inspiration has been his father. Sharing a personal memory, he said, “He once gifted me a keychain that reads: ‘Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly. Never ever give up.’ I keep it by my bedside, and it reassures me every morning.”Karanvir will soon be seen in The Trial Season 2, where he plays a key role in the courtroom drama. Talking about his character, he explained, “Param is an opportunist. And every actor is waiting for the perfect opportunity. My teachers have always taught me to be ready when the right opportunity comes.”Karanvir’s journey is a reminder that good teachers and mentors leave behind lessons that stay forever. They not only shape who you are, but also who you become.
