It’s very important to be adaptable when you work in TV: Digvijay Purohit

Actor Digvijay Purohit, currently seen in Tu Juliet Jatt Di, produced by Dreamiyata Entertainment headed by Sargun Mehta and Ravie Dubey, believes adaptability is one of the most essential traits for a television actor.Reflecting on his two-decade-long journey, Digvijay says, “TV works like that. In my 20 years of career, I’ve seen many ups and downs, shocking and surprising elements of every kind. It’s very important to be adaptable. You can’t be rigid and say, ‘This is not my character’ or ‘I cannot do this,’ because that’s the demand. Television functions this way.”He points out the key difference between TV and other mediums. “In films and web, you have a bound script with a clear character graph. But TV can run for months or years. Because of ratings, the story keeps evolving, and you have to serve the audience accordingly. Over time, many shades, twists and emotional highs and lows come in — that’s why adaptability is crucial.”Talking about the kind of roles he enjoys performing, Digvijay shares, “If I get a good scene, I’m happy. It becomes even more exciting when I’m asked to do something different from the character’s current graph — something that needs extra effort. If a new shade comes that I haven’t explored yet, I really enjoy it because it adds variety and keeps the performance fresh.”
