It’s a festival of joy and happiness: Delnaaz Irani on celebrating Navroz

Today is Parsi new year and as the Parsi community indulges in celebrating the festival with gusto, actress Delnaaz Irani too is set to celebrate the festival. Shares Delnaaz, “Navroz marks the beginning of the spring equinox and is celebrated all across the globe as Persian New Year. It’s the new beginning of the year and we thank God and pray for everyone’s well being.”

Delnaaz has done popular films like Yes Boss, Kal Ho Na Ho , Bhoothnath and many more. Apart from Bollywood she is quite active on TV and done TV shows like Parivartan, Ek Mahal Ho Sapno Ka, Nach Baliye 1, Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, Akbar Birbal, Choti Sarrdaarni, etc. Recalling fond memories of the festival in her childhood, Delnaaz gets nostalgic. She adds, “I remember my mother inviting my friends and teachers for lunch on Navroz. It used to be a big feast with all the delicacies. My mother used to decorate the dining table with lots of delicacies, fruits, dry fruits. She also used to decorate it with flowers and put dhoop batti as per the tradition. In the morning we all siblings used to go to the fire temple with our parents. What I loved the most as a kid was getting new clothes for the festival.”

Sharing more about her celebration plans, she adds, “Percy and I will go to the fire temple to pray. In the evening, we have invited few friends for feast. It’s a festival of joy and happiness and I want my folks to be a part of the celebrations.”
