Is something brewing between Avinash Sachdev and Falaq Naaz? A look at former's bitter love affairs with Rubina Dilaik and others

Bigg Boss OTT 2 contestants Avinash Sachdev and Falaq Naaz are making headlines for their potential love affair. The inmates have been noticing a spark between them and feel that the two have feelings for each other. While there may be a connection here, Avinash's past has been fraught with multiple failed relationships. Take a look at some of his relationships that went kaput and why...

Avinash and Falaq are both locked in the Bigg Boss house. In one of the episodes, after Avinash complimented Falaq for cooking all his favourite dishes just like his mom, Jad Hadid told the former he could see a spark between the two. Avinash asked him not to put such thoughts in his mind. In another episode, it was Jiya Shankar who teased Falaq for her chemistry with Avinash. Falaq denied and said, "Nothing like that, we are only good friends. We might not even get along. There is no chemistry. I will punch you if you don't stop teasing." This made Avinash, who walked in, question Falaq about what she said that to Jiya.

Avinash and Rubina, who met and fell in love on the sets of their daily soap, Chotti Bahu, were inseparable once upon a time. However, cracks began to appear after reports of Avinash getting closer to another television actress began to surface. While Rubina initially dismissed the rumours, the inevitable happened. The couple broke-up in 2012.

Avinash did not choose to speak about his break-up when it happened, but a couple of years later when he participated in Nach Baliye 9 in 2019 with girlfriend Palak Purswani, he was asked about his previous relationship. The actor told the judges, "Rubina and I were very insecure about everything in life. We never used to give space to each other." The split wasn't easy for Rubina either, who claimed later that it only made her 'stronger' and 'self-willed'.

After Rubina Dilaik, Avinash started dating his Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? Ek Baar Phir co-actor Shalmalee Desai. They got married in 2015. However, the marriage failed to work, and they divorced in 2017. Back then, reports of incompatibility between the two was cited as the reason for their separation.

In an episode of Bigg Boss OTT 2 (2023), Avinash claimed that out of the three relationships he has had, his marriage was the best one. He chose not to state his reasons for parting ways with Shalmalee when Jad Hadid suggested he should have worked out his differences, if that was the case. Avinash said, "It was something else. It was not because of our tuning, vibe or our personal relationship. We had to just call it off. Nobody knows the reason, not even my friends, because I had promised her parents."

Surprisingly, Avinash said he is not in touch with Shalmalee but got to know that she tied the knot earlier this year. He said, "I just learnt some time ago that she got married in April. I don't have her contact number, Facebook, Instagram, nothing. No phone call, no WhatApp. Somebody told me she got married, which means she is in a happy space."

In Bigg Boss OTT 2, Palak talked about her love story with Avinash. She said, "We met through a common friend, who is also an actress, five years ago. I had just come out of a relationship. It was my habit to jump from one relationship to another because I was very dependent. Our mutual friend introduced us to each other. He asked me if I was Sindhi and single, and what I liked eating. I replied I love butter chicken and he said he does too. There were too many similarities." Palak revealed that Avinash took her number from their common friend.

The two did not have it easy. In an exclusive chat with ETimes Television after being evicted from Bigg Boss OTT 2, Palak accused Avinash of cheating on her and called their relationship 'toxic'. She said, "At the end of the day, I can’t deny the fact that I’ve spent some years with Avinash. The way I was conveying the story about our love life and how we met, I just went with the flow. But that will not change the fact that I’m not getting back to that guy. It was a very toxic past." She also got back at Avinash for saying that he fell out of love with her. She added, "Iska matlab kya hai… what did you mean when you said, "You were out of love". Are you trying to say infidelity was not involved? Are you trying to say you were loyal to me, then I need to get back to the game to answer him that."
