The present Corona times and nation-wide lockdown has surely made people realize the importance of family, being together with family, spending quality time with loved ones, especially when there are many who are stuck at different places (within India and outside) due to lockdown, and could not be with their families during such tough times. However, on account of
International Family Day
(May 15), we speak to a couple of actors and get their take on the importance of having a family around, especially during present times, and what they have to say on a family day.
PRANITHA SUBHASH: ‘HAVING A FAMILY AROUND IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND COMFORTING FEELING IN THIS WORLD’
“I think the one silver lining gift there is, to entire Corona pandemic and lockdown would be the fact that we got a chance to spend so much time with our family. As an actor, I have been traveling all these years. Soon after my college days, I have been travelling for movies and shoots and other things; so it’s really nice that we have got a chance to spend quality time with our family and my parents. And of-course, I feel really sad for those who have got quarantined away from their families; some of them who were in different cities at the time of the announcement of the lockdown, so it is really sad that they are away from their loved ones during times like this, but I think we have to face it no matter how difficult it is.” Giving out a message on family day, actor says, “Be grateful, thankful that you have your families with you, which is a blessing. These tough times have been an eye opener for all of us as to how important are our family to us and somehow I feel that I am less worried and less stressed out because we are all quarantined with our families at home and we get to see them all the time. It’s just the most beautiful and comforting feeling in this world.”
DEBINA BONNERJEE: ‘I FEEL EXTREMELY LUCKY THAT I’M WITH MY FAMILY IN THESE TIMES’

“I feel extremely lucky that I am with my family today in these times. I am safe, secure and also this security that my family is in front of my eyes is very relieving. Eating food cooked by my mom, planning future vacations and discussing my childhood has all been amazing. Not only am I taken care of emotionally and physically, but I am also taking care of them to ensure that they are fine. It’s a completely peaceful space right now. Family makes you better human! As we grow we understand the importance of being with them even more and more which is amazing.”
BIJAY ANAND: ‘I THINK ITS IMPERATIVE TO EXPRESS LOVE FOR YOUR FAMILY, THAN ASSUMING IT’

Bijay Anand with his wife, Sonnali K Khare and daughter, Sanayaah
“Our families are the anchors of our lives. No matter what ups and downs we go through in our life, we always have the support and backing of our families; sometimes, even when they disagree with us. The Coronavirus crisis has brought families together like never before. Spending these past few weeks in lockdown have been really tough but the bonds have become stronger like never before. There may be disputes and disagreements but at the end of the day, it is our family that we rely upon for emotional support. However, I also feel that one of the biggest problems that families face today is the lack of expression. We just take it for granted that our parents, spouse, children or siblings should know that we love them. I think it is imperative to express that love rather than assume that those we care deeply about know it already. In my family, there is a constant playfulness, lots of hugging and kissing and most importantly, we keep saying “I love you” to each other every day. And this is my message to everyone that please go and hug whoever you care about, and tell them how much you love them.”
RANJHA VIKRAM SINGH: ‘MY HEART GOES OUT FOR THOSE WHO ARE AWAY FROM THEIR FAMILIES, ESPECIALLY THE WORKERS; ITS SO PAINFUL’

Ranjha Vikram Singh with his mom, Rita Singh
Nothing is bigger in any individual’s life than having a family around and being with them. A lot of people who are with their family, and safe and are together are a blessing in such crisis. We don’t know when this pandemic will end, when we will get healed and what’s its cure is! However, at the moment, spending time with the family is the most precious thing and its most importantly, a time to understand each other, remove any kind of differences within the members of the family, relatives, give and spread love asmuch as possible. For people, who could not be there with the family, reach to their respective zones and stuck somewhere during covid times, predominantly the migrants—our labour and the workers, which comprises the biggest population of our country and are the ones who have built cities with their hard work, my heart goes out to them. It’s very painful to see them (on news) walking and crying such long distances for days together to reach their homes to be with their families—all helplessly without getting any food. I myself went thrice with some food packets a couple of days ago, and the way they flocked the cars for food and in helplessness, it was really painful moment. But then we have to strong and keep fighting.”
