I’m not enjoying TV: Kruttika
That’s because the small screen isn’t offering her much variety, Kruttika Desai tells Deepali Dhingra....
I play a disciplinarian, somebody who’sextremely strong but at the same time, quite sensitive. She shares a unique bond with her son. She’s an obedient bahu of the house but that’sbecause she’s a strong woman who has managed her household really well.Images change with shows that are a hit. When I played a gharelu role in Buniyaad, people never thought I could play amodern role. Then when I did a Superhit Muqabla, they were surprised. Later, Iplayed a fantasy character in Chandrakanta and surprised them yet again. Theyaccepted me when I did negative modern roles too. I think they liked me in DoSaheliyan as well. For an actor, it’s satisfying to not be categorised inany niche category. I’ve been lucky to be accepted in all myavatars. That’s true. Nowadays, stories are based aroundprotagonists who’re 17-18 years old. Earlier, each character had its ownstanding and you couldn’t really say who was the protagonist. Roles docome our way but definitely, there is a dearth of good ones for my age-group.I’m not enjoying it as much as I did earlier. There was alot of variety with weeklies earlier. But with dailies, you end up doing thesame role for months and years.
I’m very inclined towards films, but there are no goodroles coming my way. There was a time when TV was offering me very good roles,so I didn’t look at films. Now the scenario has changed. There are goodfilms being made on different subjects.
