Now that the country is in a lockdown for 21 days, television channels are making best possible efforts to keep their viewers entertained. In a bid to do so, Prasar Bharti CEO Shashi Shekhar hinted that iconic shows of the 80s

Mahabharata

and Ramayana might just return to the small screen in his latest tweet.

Recently an internet user tweeted, "Huge demand on social media for retelecast of Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana and B R Chopra’s Mahabharata on DD National. @PrakashJavdekar @DDNational #StayHome #21daysLockdown."

To this Shashi Shekhar replied, "Yes we are working on the same with the Rights Holders. Will update shortly. Stay tuned."



Within no time, several Twitter users commented that they wanted a re-run of

Chanakya

as well along with Mahabharata and Ramayana. It remains to be seen if their demands are heeded too, and soon.

Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana and B R Chopra’s Mahabharata made their way to the television screens during the late 1980s to mid-1990's. They were a treat to the audience and widely enjoyed by all on Sundays.

Recently the cast of Ramayana reunited on The Kapil Sharma Show to celebrate 33 years of its airing. In the episode, several interesting revelations were made by Arun Govil (Ram), Dipika (Sita) and Sunil Lahri (Lakman) that kept the audience hooked.
