You are projected as a loud person on-screen. Are you okay with this image off-screen?
Haan toh kya bura hai usmein. Aawaz loud hai, toh mai kya karun, I am a punjabi and proud to be one. Par yeh hai, jo bolti hoon, sab sach bolti hoon. Jisko pasand nahi, woh kaan mein rui daalein ya fir channel change karein.I have no guilt.
But don’t you think this attitude can hamper your popularity somewhere...
I don’t think so. You know, I can’t be sweet for a reason. I am the way I am. You have seen me as I am. And people who like me, like me for what I am – real. Aur jo log bolte hain, unko bolne do. I will do what I have to. I am a busy person, if something gets worse then only I will look into the matter, else I don’t bother. I participated in “Big Boss 4” for Salman bhai. I was too happy to work with him.
So, you have good relations with Sallu bhai... Isn’t it? Do we see you sharing screen space with him anytime soon?
Yes, very good. He is like a family. I have done many films with him like “Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya”, and closely work with Sohail Khan productions too as an online producer. It’s a surprise. Viewers have seen me with bhai earlier and will get to see in the near future too.
Now, your husband is getting television offers too, how would it be to work with your husband on screen?
Baatein chalu hain, telephonic conversations are on. He has got offers, I wouldn’t deny that. Just that, I don’t want to disclose any more info. On screen ho ya off screen ho, kya farak padta hai.
Khali was your ‘Virji’ in “Bigg Boss 4” but then what went wrong? Why did you have verbal spats with him?
Thank god, verbal hi hue (laughs). You know, people are approaching me for a video game based on ‘Dolly Vs Khali’ track. Soon you may get to play us virtually. Usmein kya-kya daalenge, rab jaane. You know, my husband still taunts me that he was so rude still you were too sweet to him. Dialogues like ‘Tere muh par thukkunga nahin’, ‘tujhe uthake faink dunga’ are heavy and least expected. Dil toota hai unki statements sunke.
Would you like to patch up with him?
After all it’s a game. Everybody wanted to win. I can’t comment on his character. I still love him. I have memories with him as a sister. Gusse mein insaan bahut kuch bolta hai. There must have been circumstances that carried him away. But theek hai, open arms welcome Virji.
We saw your culinary skills on the show. So what is your speciality?
Okay, now that you have asked me this I would like to tell you that I am opening “Dolly ka Dhaba” very soon in five cities (Northern region) including Bombay by early April. The cuisine would be punjabi. I’d visit my dhabas often, cook food and meet my customers. Naam register ho gaya hai, aur koi nahi le sakta (laughs). And my speciality would the variety of biryanis on offer.
So, you are a perfect fit for a cookery reality show too?Oh koi bhi ho, mainu ki farak painda hai, hum toh humara style ka khana banate hain, which you will also find delicious, I am sure.
