‘I hate being called Kangana’

Neetha Shetty is very clear about her likes and dislikes, she tells TOI.
‘I hate being called Kangana’
She isnt a distant relative of the famous Shetty sisters, but nevertheless has her own share of popularity on the small screen through serials like Tum Bin Jaoon Kahan, Kahiin Toh Hoga and Parivar.
In fact in Parivaar, she played negative for the first time. People wondered if I could handle it. But now they all think that it was a perfect decision as its my cute looks which give more depth to the character, she says.
Wanting to do meaty roles, Neetha some time ago preferred opting out of Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan rather than playing just one of the sisters. Initially it was all fine, but after a point of time I was just standing in the frame doing nothing and as an actor I want to do something worthwhile rather than become a prop or a part of the furniture, she reasons.
Neetha, with her frizzy hair, is often days mistaken for Kangana Ranaut. Often at malls and other public places people compliment her for her films. Its just because of the frizzy hair that both Kangana and me have in common, she says adding, I hate being called Kangana. I have my own individuality and would prefer not being recognised rather than being known by somebody elses name. With all due respect to Kangana and what she has achieved, I still would like people to know me as Neetha Shetty! she says.
Another thing that irked her was being linked with her co-star Sachin Sharma. When I joined the show, I only knew Sachin very well as we had done some projects together before this one. So naturally, I would talk to him. But people around have a very narrow perspective to things and they started thinking in a wrong manner about our relationship. Moreover, even my husbands name is Sachin and I used to keep talking to him on the phone, which might have had people jumping to wrong conclusions.
