Rituraj Singh’s latest venture Trideviyaan, will see him play Dinanath Chauhan, who is on a secret mission to save the nation. He’s shown transforming from an unassuming and affable guy into a fierce spy, when the need arises.
How did the show happen?
The last time I auditioned for a role was in 1991. And since then, this is the first time I had to give an audition for the role, but I enjoyed the process.
I have done a lot of shows earlier on various channels, but the show Jersey No. 10 with SAB was my favourite. I wondered if I will get to work with this channel again and here I am, doing Trideviyaan.
Tell us about your character in the show...
I play Dinanath Chauhan, a former cop serving the nation secretly as Agent Himalay. He is soft-spoken and a disciplinarian. His body language changes the moment he dons the hat of a secret agent. His daughter and two daughters-in-law assist him on the mission.
READ A:LSO:Rituraj Singh: Earlier, makers wanted actors. Now, they just want good-looking faces How did you prepare for this role?
My dad was an Army man, so all references of his background helped me a lot. It had nothing to do with secret agents. As an actor, I had to brush up my voice modulation skills for this character. It is always good to play a role where you can showcase patriotism.
How different is this show from the rest?
The twist is that in a simple family comprising of a man, his wife, a daughter, two sons and their wives, some of them are spies working for the country. The three girls portray the strength of women and how they are able to handle all the situations in their lives.
Tell us about your chemistry with the actors in the show.
The chemistry is different with the three girls. I feel protective towards my daughter because I don’t want her to feel inferior as I know she is not as efficient as my daughters-in-law. My affections are stronger for my daughters-in-law than my two sons. I have an interesting chemistry with my wife and mother as they have a stronger hold on the family.
Trideviyaan premieres on November 15 and will air Monday-Friday, at 9.30 pm on Sony SAB.
