I feel underrated as an actor: Ankur Nayyar

Ankur Nayyar’s role in Pandya Store has ended and he tells us his daughter is most disappointed. “My eight-year old daughter Aryana was upset that my track was getting over. I had to explain to her that these things are normal and a part of our work. I enjoyed being a part of the show and my character Amrish was important, but I think the makers wanted to bring in a shock value. The ongoing IPL has caused a dip in the ratings of shows and hence, they felt this was required.”

Ankur, who has been part of showbiz for two decades now, has acted in a number of TV shows and a few films. Talking about his journey, the actor says, “In the first decade, I was part of many good TV shows like Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Kashmir and Desh Mein Nikla Hoga Chand, and happy with the way my career was going. But after the initial 10 years, I wanted to grow as an actor and do films. However, I was not happy with the kind of opportunities I got there and got busy with TV again.”

‘For me, the medium does not matter’
Ankur feels his best is yet to come. “I feel underrated as an actor and have a lot more to offer. I was happy with my stint in Pandya Store & hope to bag interesting roles across mediums. For me, the medium does not matter. Whether it is films, TV or a web series, I should be able to stand out. In the near future, I also have plans to start my production house.”
