doweshowbellyad=0; Jaspinder Narula (TOI Photo)Im working on Holi, says singer Jaspinder Narula, when you ask her what shes doing on the holiday. Im shooting all day long for Dhoom Macha De on NDTV Imagine. But before you begin to sympathise, she tells you she doesnt really mind. I have wonderful memories of Holi, of course, she continues.
As kids, we have played the
chhat se gubare marne wali Holi also. Then, when we grew older, we would go to our friends farmhouse and have a musical programme of ghazals and bhajans. Plus, they had a good pool, so wed have a swim too. I dont like ganda colours. I like a very nice and posh Holi. But Jaspinder hasnt always had such a cool time on Holi. As a kid, my father would never allow me to play Holi with the guys from school. Eight to ten of them my gang would come over, and he would tell them, Nahin beta, bas Jaspinder ko tilak karo. Dont put any colour on her face. Then we used to treat them to the special dishes that were made at home for Holi, and that was it. My dad was very strict about this. This Holi, however, is special for Jaspinder, in spite of the fact that shes working. She performed with her father and brother for an episode that was aired yesterday on the channel, and it made for a memory that she says shes going to cherish forever. This Holi will make for a fond memory since I recently performed with my father and brother, she says. The performance brought back fond memories of all the times I had performed with them both. It gave me an ultimate emotional high.
