Sukhada Khandkekar, who was last seen in the TV show Punyashlok Ahilyabai is currently seen playing the role of a mother to lead actress Sayali Salunkhe in the TV show Pukaar...Dil Se Dil Tak. The actress shared how she has no qualms playing a mother to grown-up girls. She said, "It is not new on TV. I am quite young to play mom to a grown-up. But the role was quite interesting.
It is a very positive and emotional mother's role, who loves her daughters. I am not a mother in real life, and in the show I am playing a mom to grown-up daughters but I liked the script." Sayali Salunkhe and Anushka Merchande play Sukhada's daughters in the show.
Sukhada, who has also acted in the Bollywood film Bajirao Mastani, shares how she does not care about the medium. She shares, "I would not like to be identified as a TV or film or theatre actor because now the lines are blurring and if you do good work, then you get offers from all kinds of platforms. Working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali was an evolving experience because not once did actors like Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone or Priyanka Chopra make us feel that they are stars. I am a Kathak dancer and I enjoyed dancing to the film's music."
On the personal front, Sukhada is married to Marathi and Hindi film and TV actor Abhijit Khandkekar. Ask her how it is being married to an actor and she says, "It is good because your partner understands the craft. I can literally discuss scenes and pour my heart out to him when I return home and he listens. Of course, we are always fighting for time, because we are both busy shooting for our respective projects. But, it has been wonderful being married to Abhijit, who is very supportive and understands my profession."
