Nausheen Ali Sardar says Neem Neem Shahad Shahad’s story is hersActress Nausheen Ali Sardar is angry. She says the story of the TV serial Neem Neem Shahad Shahad, that started a month ago, is hers. Nausheen, who has a production house, has met a number of channels over the past couple of years with various story ideas. “We had four meetings with this channel and had discussed our concept at length.
Now we see some other production house making the show. This is not fair,” she says.
Neem Neem’s story is identical to her story, she alleges. She says, “It’s sad. We go for sittings, narrate our concepts and then they get used. And there’s nothing we can do about it. Yes, stories can be registered, but even then a little bit tweaking can make it somebody else’s! Like, if I have a story based in Madhya Pradesh with the uncle being a villain, somebody else can use the whole story by simply changing the setting to Rajasthan and making the chachi the vamp.”
The need of the hour is to have a proper system in place where such grievances can be looked into, avers the actress, who is currently seen in Imagine’s Beend Banoonga Ghodi Chadoonga. “Usually people don’t complain because they do not want to have problems with channels.
I am an actress and by doing so, I am burning bridges. But I just had to speak out this time because such things are rampant in our industry. It has happened with me in the past too with some other channel. How long does one keep quiet? We have to trust people and narrate our concepts. We work so hard trying to come up with unique story ideas and then when something like this happens, it is very upsetting.”
