Grusha Kapoor is an actress who has been a part of television, films and also web shows. But after playing the of role of Kaikeyi in
“After doing web series and films, I realised that these platforms are more fun than TV. For a TV show we used to shoot 10-12 scenes in a day, here we only shoot 2 scenes and post that everyone feels bohot kaam kar liya! Plus the subjects of TV shows nowadays are so similar that as an actor, I don’t feel like doing anything. There is a typical family drama and everything revolves around that only. Also the amount of money that I will earn by doing 6 months of TV, I can get by doing one film for 20 days,” shares Grusha.
She remembers the time when she was 24 years old and had played the character of a mother-in-law in the show Kehta Hai Dil and her daughter-in-law was a year older to her! But as a theatre artist, she doesn’t fear playing characters like these too.
She says that she has seen a golden period of television with actors like Rakesh Bedi and is glad she was a part of that era. Today it's been 4-5 years that she has not watched a single show on TV.
“I saw on social media that in one of the shows a girl gets locked in a suitcase and then the suitcase is thrown into a river. While there was another where one becomes a fly. What kind of content are we providing? Earlier we got to learn so much from the shows that were shot, but now everything has changed. Of course the audience of television too has changed,” she signs off.
