Haldi ceremony to saat-phere: Here are all the unseen moments from Balraj Syal and Deepti Tuli’s hush-hush lockdown wedding

Khatron Ke Khiladi 10 fame Balraj Syal surprised fans by tying the knot to singer Deepti Tuli in an extremely private ceremony. The actor exclusively broke the news to BT and announced on social media that he is a married man on September 6. Now we present to you some unseen moments from his wedding.

Comedian-actor Balraj tied the knot with singer Deepti Tuli on August 7 in Jalandhar. Interestingly, he had searched the entire world for his dream woman, and it turns out, she was staying just 15 minutes away from his home!

Breaking down the dulha and dulhan’s wedding look – Balraj wore a pristine white kurta, pyjama and jacket. He completed his look with a traditional head-gear. Bride Deepti wore a bright red traditional lehenga and gold jewellery. Keeping their looks minimal, they let their smiles do all the talking.

Talking about how they met, Balraj told BT, “We met in July last year, during a shoot in Chandigarh. I was hosting a show, while she was performing in it with her band. I developed an instant liking for her, but I guess, she didn’t like me much or else she would have responded to my text messages (laughs!). Later, I went to shoot for Fear Factor: 'Khatron Ke Khiladi' and kept texting her, but didn’t get a desired response. It was during my trip to Turkey and Greece that we started having long conversations.”

I met her a couple of times after I returned, and proposed marriage to her on my birthday (January 26), during a getaway in Goa. She was taken by surprise and didn’t respond immediately. Then, 'Mujhse Shaadi Karoge' came my way. After coming out, I spoke to her again about marriage and she agreed.”

Balraj revealed how they decided to get married. Balraj would have preferred to get married after things returned to normalcy. He shared, “During the initial months of lockdown, I didn’t want to have a social wedding owing to safety concerns. Then I considered a registered marriage, but agni ke saamne phere lena zaroori tha. Finally, our parents asked us to come home once the flights resumed and our wedding date was fixed. The shaadi happened with all the rituals.”

While the bride glowed in her yellow outfit with matching floral jewellery and haldi smeared-face, Balraj matched the ritual in a yellow ‘Eat, train, sleep’ printed tee. Sharing the reason to keep mum about his wedding, Balraj shared, “We could only invite 30 people. I have a large circle of friends and it wouldn’t have been possible to invite everyone.”

Haldi, mehendi to saat phere, the couple was all smiles throughout the ceremonies. While they had a hush-hush ceremony, the couple plans to host a huge reception once the situation is back to normal.
