Had I been in Jaipur, I would have gorged on scrumptious Rajasthani food. But since I am not there, Rohit and I will be going out for dinner today.”
SWINGS AND MEHNDI MAKE THE FESTIVAL BEAUTIFUL: ROSI DAS
“I am a Bengali and had no idea about Teej. My mother-in-law told me that it’s a festival for women where they fast, wear ethnic dresses, apply mehndi, enjoy swings and celebrate the monsoon season. So I also wanted to celebrate the festival,” Rosi says. Anmol adds, “This was just another reason for her to wear a sari. That’s why she was excited about it.” She adds, “I love wearing saris. But still, it’s such a beautiful festival and since I am in Jaipur, I really wanted to be a part of it.”
A DABBA OF GHEVAR FOR OUR FIRST TEEJ: RICHA MEHTA AND TARUL SWAMI
Suhani Si Ek Ladki fame TV actor Tarul Swami, who hails from Jaipur, married Richa Mehta on January 25. Richa is from Indore and is all geared up to celebrate her first Teej.
“My mother-in-law told me that women wear new clothes and apply mehndi. So Tarul took me for shopping a day before Teej and I bought some beautiful traditional clothes. I’ll be doing a small puja on the day and after that, we will be heading out for lunch,” says Richa. “We couldn’t be in Jaipur, so my mom sent us a dabba of ghevar for Teej. But it was so yummy that we finished all of it the day it arrived,” admits Tarul, who misses being with his family in Jaipur during festivals.
EVEN BEFORE MARRIAGE, I CELEBRATED TEEJ IN A GRAND MANNER: CHARU ASOPA
The festival has three variants - Hariyali, Kajari and Hartalika Teej. Mere Angne Mein actress Charu Asopa, who hails from Bikaner, tied the knot with Sushmita Sen’s brother Rajeev Sen, in Goa on June 16. The actress will be celebrating Kajari Teej on August 18.
“I am a Marwari from Rajasthan where Teej is celebrated with fanfare. I used to celebrate Teej even before marriage when I would wear leheriya saris and listen to Teej ki katha. This time, I am quite excited as it is my first Teej after marriage. But I am travelling to Europe with Rajeev to celebrate his birthday. So I won’t be able to celebrate the festival in an elaborate manner. But I’ll be keeping a fast and so is Rajeev,” she says. “Rajeev knows very little about Teej. When I told him about the festival and how I would celebrate it back in Rajasthan, he got very excited and decided to fast with me. Now I don’t know for how many hours he will be able to go without food,” she laughs. Charu told us that she will be carrying a mehndi cone with her and apply shagun ki mehndi on their Europe trip.
