Fitness freak that he is, actor Gautam Rode has taken up another telly adventure and this time, the actor is taking every letter of the word adventure quite seriously as he is gearing up for the show Mahakumbh. Gautam, who loves to speak volumes about fitness, doing weights and lots of gyan on living life without losing self-confidence, opens up about life’s ambitions, showbiz mantra and more in a candid chat: Excerpts from the chat:
Are you glad about the way your telly trajectory is taking shape?
Well, after Saraswatichandra, I found myself doing another show which is a male oriented script.
Most of the shows that I have done so far are male oriented. And it is not about who is dominating a particular scene or a track, it’s about whose performance registers in the mind of the viewer. TV is all about recall value and I am glad to have done the kind of roles on TV.

What do you have to say about the advent of different genres on Indian Television?
What is important for a TV show is content. Quality of content is very important for a show to weather the TRP race. What is important to take notice is that stories should be altered completely according to a show’s TRPs. It is unfortunate that tracks change according to TRPs where one forgets about the content and thinks only about the numbers. Indian TV shows need a bound script now. As an actor, I have the responsibility to stay committed to a show. Actors can’t randomly run away from a show because they don’t like a particular track. I would never quit my show because a particular track is not working.

How about contentment on the personal front?
I always believed in myself. A sensible man can become anything that he wants to be if he knows his strengths. I was equally hard working in the beginning and I kept on working. I never lost faith in myself. Whatever I have for me now I am happy with that and I am quite composed in life. I have been a fitness freak since childhood. I had this fixation about workouts and lifting weights. I like to take care of myself and look presentable. And, yes, I also like to advice to people on diet plans, fitness and abs because that interests me. I find losing weight quite easy, but gaining weight becomes difficult because I like to look fab and fit always.
