Actress Garima Vikrant Singh, who was last seen in Television show 'Yehh Jadu Hai Jinn Ka', is missing her hometown Allahabad during Chhath festivals.
She says, "For me, the mere mention of
Chhath puja invokes a warm glow of lingering nostalgia and a yearning to return to good times when my hometown Allahabad, became a sacred place to live. It conjures up vivid images of Ganga ghats decked with numerous canopies of five sugarcane stalks symbolising Pancha Tattva (Earth, Air, water, fire, and Space), multiple four-cornered platforms earmarked for the puja by devotees, decorated with shimmering lights, dotted with clay and flour divas, arranged in rows and circles, adding the right note of sacredness to the atmosphere."
She is missing the celebration in Mumbai this year as she couldn't travel amid the pandemic.
She says, "I'm missing being at hometown this year but hope next year I am able ti travel back. I'm mentally present there, remembering the smell of traditional offerings like thekua wafting in the air and witness the fresh harvest of vegetables, fruits beautifully decorated in Daura and Suups. A stream of people thronging to beaches, menfolk staying up all night guarding and decorating the ghats, and vratins dressed up in vibrant saris with vermilion smeared from their nose to the tip of their foreheads."
The actress remembers how she used to prepare bhog and sing bhajans. "The sublime smell of chhath prasad that is traditionally cooked on the chulhas, especially with mango wood add an aromatic fervour to the spirit with chhath songs playing in the background. I am missing participating in the beautiful events."
Garima is known for featuring in popular TV shows like 'Gustakh Dil', 'Choti Bahu Season 2', and is remembered for playing a typical Bihari woman on the show, 'Nimki Mukhiya'.
