From maintaining a register to doing haldi trial; Dipika Kakar’s wedding planning for sister-in-law Saba is a helpful manual for all brides-to-be

Dipika Kakar is a busy bee as she is super excited to plan for sister-in-law Saba’s November wedding. While the brother of the dulhan is busy with his show Ajooni, his doting wife Dipika has been on the top of her game with the wedding planning. The way she is planning everything can easily be considered as a wedding go-to manual for all brides-to-be. And here are a few helpful tips and tricks that you may keep in mind if you don’t want to make all the last minute rushes and have a ‘bridezilla’ moment:

Dipika showed how she has kept small cut pieces from the fabrics of the outfits (also known as swatches) to refer to who’s wearing what. Dipika went for outfit shopping as soon as the wedding date was fixed. In Dipika’s words, “We often tend to miss and forget the outfits we have already planned and keep thinking about it. The fabric swatches instantly helps us recall what we have, what’s ready and what’s not ready.”

According to bride-to-be Saba’s wish, the family is going to wear colour coordinated outfits. Hence, Dipika made a smart move by getting similar fabrics and getting them dyed in the same shade so that it matches to the T. Without revealing the exact shades, Dipika showed the entire process of selecting the fabrics and the shades for dye.

Dipika booked her go-to masterji and another tailor for extra hands well in advance as many outfits need to be stitched. She also showed how she designed her outfits fabric wise and got them custom made.

Dipika spoke about how she has minutely taken care of each and everything. She brought transparent packets and according to members and events, she has dedicatedly marked them, keeping fabric, lace and whatever is required. This helped her in just grabbing things that are required in priority and also for easy access during the wedding functions.

Dipika and the wedding planner team went to Maudaha (Shoaib-Saba’s hometown) to do a proper recce of the wedding venue. Though it’s the same venue where Dipika and Shoaib got married, a recce is very much required to keep note of the measurements and area of the venue event wise. Dipika also made sure to visit lodges for the guests’ accommodation.

Dipika, Shoaib along with Saba and other family members have made many visits to local markets in South Mumbai to first research about outfits and fabrics. Only after proper research did they zeroed down on materials needed. In between they also shopped for regular wear during the wedding functions.

Shoaib and Dipika spoke to several wedding planners before zeroing down on one. They spoke in detail about the wedding décor, theme and budget and accordingly selected the planners. From meeting the vendors personally to selecting wedding invites, Dipika and Shoaib are doing it all in discussion with the bride-to-be. While they are taking care of things, they show how they are in constant touch with each other and give importance to each other’s choices and wishes.

It is very important to stay hydrated and full throughout. Dipika, Shoaib and Saba through their vlogs showed how they didn’t miss out on eating and drinking occasionally. Dipika would sit down for her golgappas break at her favourite joint with her register and pen.

Dipika did a haldi trial on sister-in-law Saba. Dipika checked the consistency of haldi so that it doesn’t cause any reaction on the bride’s skin on the main day. The family discussed how haldi will be played and it shouldn’t cause discomfort on Saba. The bride-to-be applied haldi on her face and checked if it’s causing her any irritation.
