From difficulties in marriage with Parmeet Sethi to son Aaryamann’s depression after a major accident: Archana Puran Singh gets emotional

Archana Puran Singh, who often entertains fans with her time on The Great Indian Kapil Show, made some shocking revelations recently. She appeared on a vlog with her son Aaryamann, where she opened up about several personal and professional aspects of her life. She spoke about her childhood, her struggling days in Mumbai, her marriage with Parmeet Sethi, and the hardships her family faced. Here’s all you need to know:

Archana reveals her father is her role model

“My father was a criminal lawyer and yet so innocent. He had a great sense of humour, and that has passed on to me and my kids. My father has always been my role model. He wasn’t a religious person but he would tell us that his conscience was his religion. There were times when he was offered bags of money to fight a case, but he never accepted them. I’ve learnt punctuality and many other values from him.”

Struggling days

“When I came to Mumbai to learn acting, I got a serial where I was supposed to not just act but also do comedy. There was a scene where I was expected to be funny, and I started making faces. The director stopped me and said that making faces is not comedy. He told me to watch others and learn what real comedy is. I watched my work, analysed it, and learnt from it.”

Archana praises Kapil Sharma

“It took me some time to learn comedy. Some people are more natural at it, while others are not. Kapil can make a normal line sound like a punchline. He has it in him to make anyone laugh, it’s a quality not many people have.”

More struggles in Mumbai

“Everyone thinks I’m always laughing, but they don’t know what I’ve been through. When I first came to Mumbai, I didn’t know how to dress. I was educated, but I didn’t know style. When I saw how life in Mumbai looked, I went back to Dehradun and told my dad that I wanted to become an actress. My father then sent me with his friend and their daughter to Mumbai with one suitcase. It was a suitcase full of dreams. But that family friend was returning to Dehradun in just one week.”

Archana breaks down emotionally

“When the family friend , the Vermas were going back, I called my parents and asked them to let me stay longer. There were no casting houses, and I had no clue how to become an actress. I didn’t know how to do makeup or how to get my pictures clicked. I was only 19 years old.”

7/10

Marriage difficulties with Parmeet

“People think I have the most ideal marriage with Parmeet, but what is an ideal marriage? It is where you overcome the difficulties and decide to stay together regardless. Sometimes there was ego, sometimes misunderstandings, and sometimes something else. However, I always knew there’s no better father for you guys than him.”

8/10

How things got better between Archana and Parmeet

“I experienced Sudarshan Kriya at Art of Living and I felt something I never had before. I called Bittu and asked him to come to Bangalore and experience this with me. Meditation is something that really helped the two of us a lot and, over time, things got better because we accepted each other and adjusted with one another.”

9/10

Aaryamann’s accident

“The second most difficult phase of my life was when I got a call saying Aary had broken his leg, and at that time I was in London. I felt extremely bad because it wasn’t just the leg that was broken, but also his dreams. People think Aary is always smiling, but we have seen the dark phase where he was depressed and anxious. His dreams were honestly shattered then.”

10/10

Priorities change

Archana revealed how her priorities changed after having kids. She shared, “I stopped going out completely so that I could give time to my kids. At one point, people thought Bittu and I had parted ways because he would go to all the award shows alone.”
