From Deepinder Goyal unable to pronounce his wife’s original name Grecia to Narayana Murthy’s romantic gestures for Sudha Murthy; candid revelations from The Great Indian Kapil Show

On a recent episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, candid moments stole the spotlight as Deepinder Goyal humorously admitted his struggle to pronounce his wife Grecia’s name correctly, while Sudha Murthy shared heartfelt stories of Narayana Murthy’s romantic gestures for her. Sudha also delighted Kapil Sharma with a gift of Mysore Pak, as Kapil shared endearing anecdotes about Deepinder’s wife Gia’s witty attitude.

Murthy Saab e main ye sikha hai – Mysore Pak. It is a special dish. It is from Mysore and Murthy saab is also from there. The Maharaja, who ruled back in the days, asked his cook to make something special. Besan powder, ghee, sugar was mixed accidentally and that’s how Mysore Pak happened. Even now, their family is in Mysore and they have been making it for generations. That’s the authentic one.

She got a pack of the authentic Mysore Pak and gifted it to Kapil Sharma. Kapil thanked her and Archana tells her not to feed him more as he is already fat. Kapil replies, “Like you look like a model.” Sudha shares, “Archana ji, he is happy and happy people are usually fat. Mote ho na, enjoy it. Paani peeya toh wo bhi ghee ho jata hai. Murthy ji here, jo thin log hote hai, wo ghee khate hai toh paani ho jata hai.” Archana laughs and says, “Now I know why I am fat.” Kapil shares the sweets with Archana and hands over the box to his mom saying, “Khaana nahi.”

Kapil asks Sudha Murthy if she has any nickname for Narayana Murthy like how couples call each other, ‘baby’, ‘shona’. Sudha Murthy replies, “Even before marriage, I knew him. I used to call him Murthy before marriage and even after marriage I call him Murthy. No change, Murthy.”

Kapil asks her if she ever complained that he took up reading even after retirement. She replied saying, “Even I love reading. And I have learnt this in life that husband and wife should give space to each other. You cannot force someone to give you time. If it is his time, then he has to make time for me when he feels.” Kapil replies saying, “I should have brought my wife today.”

Deepinder Goyal’s wife Gia, who was originally named Grecia, changed her name. Deepinder replied, “It is a funny story. I couldn’t pronounce Grecia. I would stammer. When we met for the first few times, I couldn’t take her name. Then we discussed a bit to keep a smaller name. So we took G and IA from Grecia. But now, after a lot of practice I can finally pronounce Grecia.

Kapil recounts a tale, when he met Deepinder and Gia. He says, “Let me tell you, Gia is very witty. They visited our home. They brought a gift. An alcohol bottle. It was navratri season. I said sorry navratri is going on, so I can’t offer you. So Gia replied saying, ‘Shall I take the bottle back then?’”

Kapil asks Sudha Murthy if Narayana Murthy is romantic. She replies saying, “You should ask him. He always expresses his affection and love through words. He always gives me books with the note, To you, from me. I would ask him, who is this me. He would say ‘me’ is Narayana Murthy, you means Sudha. He is not very expressive. But he writes very short, meaningful message.
