From cancer diagnosis to 14-hour-long surgery: How Dipika Kakar is battling stage 2 of liver cancer with courage

Dipika Kakar, who was last seen on Celebrity MasterChef, recently got diagnosed with stage two of liver cancer. The actress has kept fans updated with her health as she recently underwent a 14-hour-long surgery. Shoaib gave the first glimpse post the surgery on social media. Here’s a look at all you need to know:

When Dipika spoke about the liver tumour


Sasural Simar Ka actress Dipika Kakar initially updated regarding her health last month and had fans and well-wishers worried. In a vlog, Shoaib Ibrahim had revealed that Dipika was diagnosed with a liver tumor. He mentioned how she was complaining of pain in her stomach for months, and after undergoing various medical checkups, doctors had determined the development of a tumor that needed to be surgically removed. He had also said, "Our physician advised us to come again and when we went there, he advised us to undergo a CT scan and it revealed that Dipika had a tumour in the left lobe of her liver. It was larger in size, like a tennis ball. We were very shocked to hear this."

When doctors detected the tumour to be cancerous

Sasural Simar Ka fame Dipika Kakar, one of television's most popular stars, confirmed that she had been diagnosed with stage 2 liver cancer. She made the revelation in an Instagram post, sharing the background of how a routine hospital check-up had resulted in the diagnosis of a malignant tumour. In spite of the devastating news, Dipika acknowledged the outpouring of love and support from fans and was resolute to take on that difficult page of her life with courage.

Son Ruhaan's response

Dipika had explained how their two-year-old son, Ruhaan, was coping with the situation. She had called him "samajhdaar" (sensible). Shoaib had disclosed that Dipika was not giving him food any more, and Ruhaan had realized that she was ill, so he had also stopped demanding feeding. Shoaib had spoken, "His feeding has completely stopped." Dipika had continued, "Mumma theek nahi hai, woh samajh gaya hai.". Ek aadh baar din me aake woh bolta hai mujhe, par woh samajh gaya hai. But yes, sab log hain. So, we were staying strong.

Fans and close ones' reaction

Fans and loved ones of Dipika Kakar sent loads of love and sincere prayers after hearing about her stage 2 liver cancer diagnosis. Actress Shraddha Arya joined in by posting, "Prayers and lots of love." Arti Singh comforted Dipika with the words, "You will be fine.". Prayers for you and aap jaldi thik ho jaoge. Megha Dhade said some comforting words, "Dipi, nothing will happen to you… I just know that you are a very good human being and good people take God's test but something bad cannot happen to them. We all are praying for you! The display of affection brought out the close relationship Dipika has with her friends and how much concern her well-wishers have for her recovery.".

The 14-hour long surgery

Actor Shoaib Ibrahim shared a post about his wife Dipika Kakar, who had a 14-hour-long surgery for stage 2 liver cancer. In a seven-minute video on his YouTube channel, Shoaib updated fans that Dipika is no longer in the ICU and is recuperating in the hospital. He said, "Jo bhi uska tumour tha woh bahut hi acche se bahar agayi hai. Gall bladder bhi uska nikala hai kyuki us mein stone tha.". Kyuki tumour tha liver mein toh liver ka some portion, some per cent, wo bhi cut ho gaya hai uske saath. Us mein koi stress waali baat nahi hai kyuki liver ek aisa organ hai jo khud ko regenerate karta hai. (Her tumour was successfully removed. Her gall bladder was also removed because there was a stone in it. As the tumour was in the liver, a small part of the liver was also excised. There is no need to be worried, as the liver is such an organ which can regenerate itself).
