From break-up controversy with Varun Sood to getting engaged to her BFF: A look at Divya Agarwal’s journey after winning Bigg Boss OTT

Bigg Boss OTT 2 premiered over the weekend with host Salman Khan inviting contestants from various walks of life. The winner of the first season Divya Agarwal has been in the news even after coming out of the show. Divya, who was in a relationship with Varun Sood during that time, broke up after a while and later on her birthday announced her engagement with restaurateur and businessman Apurva Padgaonkar. Further, she faced a lot of backlash from the fans and was also called a ‘gold digger’. Let’s take a look at what Divya Agarwal has been doing after coming out of the house:

Divya spoke to ETimes TV and stated that she is happy and relieved that the second season is coming. When asked how she feels, Divya said: “I am so relieved that season 2 is coming. Whenever one season comes out, it just keeps growing. The makers were very late to announce BB OTT, I thought if the first season was experimental and a one-time thing. Being season one winner, I would always want to see the legacy being carried further. I want to see season 50 and more. I wanted BB OTT to grow."

Her fiance Apurva Padgaonkar congratulated her for buying a new house in Mumbai. He shared a picture on his Instagram where Divya was seen touching her door and the nameplate. Apurva wrote a caption in the picture “It takes a lot to buy your own house in a city like Mumbai. Proud of you @divyaagarwal”.

When we asked Divya on not coming in Bigg Boss 16 as a contestant the Bigg Boss OTT winner stated that she had stopped doing reality shows after the makers did not take her. She further added that when she had gone to meet the makers for entering in the show they told her that she was not invited. Divya further added “I was being offered reality shows after Abhay and I didn't want to do them. I don't want to continue with reality shows anymore, especially Bigg Boss. The only reality show I have been keen on doing has been 'Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa' but that didn't happen this year. I have done everything, now I only want to showcase my talent in acting and not reality. It was disappointing for a lot of fans too. When they expect a lot from us and they call us for the show. I remember when things were said when I went to the main show and I was told 'Aapko bulaya nahi'. All I understood is that this is it now, I don't want to continue. I have always loved reality shows but looking at this season of Bigg Boss, even if they call me as a guest. I wouldn't wish to go. That's what happened in OTT, I was told that the one who wins the OTT season will go to the main show. This conversation happened before joining the show but then I was equally clueless as the audience. I think I didn't have Shetty in my name so I wasn't there.”

Divya had shared a long caption on her Instagram after they broke up mutually. Divya wrote “Life is such a circus! Try n keep everyone happy, expect nothing that’s true but what happens when the self love starts declining? No i don’t blame anyone for anything that’s happening to me.. I feel worked up .. and that’s okay .. I want to breathe n live for myself .. that’s okay. I hereby formally declare that I’m on my own in this life and would like to take my time to live the way I want to. No, it’s not always necessary to have big statements, excuses and reasons for a decision. It’s just my choice to step out of it. I really value and love all the happy moments I spent with him. He’s a great guy! He will always be my best friend. Please respect my decision”.

Those who remember Divya was accused by Varun’s family of not returning the family jewellery that Varun and his family had given her. Divya faced a lot of wrath from Varun’s fans and was also called a gold digger. She returned the jewellery and said she had never asked for it or wore it. Divya further replied to Varun’s sister through Twitter and wrote, “Omg not just that. Take it all!! It was anyway about give and take...but can someone stop talking as they get attention from it on news portals! Giving back the 'jewellery’ Not just this, in another post, she shared that she is also sending some 'kisses' chocolates with it. Even that jersey was just on the show... he took it back just after we came out of the house. Na kabhi pehna na kabhi maanga. Ek saal baad yaad aaya.” Divya later wrote on Twitter saying “You know people ? Enough of it.. dragging my father into this trolling for what ?? No I don’t want this.. it’s not funny not peaceful for me.. I don’t feel right about it.. gold digger really ? I’m a super self made woman and no one can take that away.”

In a recent interview, Divya Agarwal had spoken about feeling guilty about breaking up with her ex-boyfriend Varun Sood and how she always wanted to get married to her now fiance Apurva. Divya stated “At my lowest phase, I found nobody around me. That’s when I thought there is something wrong in this relationship. Then I met Apurva at a common friend’s wedding last year on February 14. We were sitting and just said, ‘We were so stupid. We could have been in that place’. I told him that I was in a relationship. And honestly, after that day, I was in two minds. He told me to meet his dogs. I met them, I met his parents and then I don’t know how, I saw his closet in his bedroom and just thought, ‘Where is my space here?’ I didn’t even share this thought with him. I was hyper and feeling guilty because I had a boyfriend (Varun Sood).”

Divya had made a video post expressing her wish to work with Anurag Kashyap. She later shared with ETimes TV that she got a response to response from Anurag Kashyap in less than 90 minutes. She added “His response was pretty simple and very humble. I did apologise to him for causing any trouble. Because many of my friends tagged him on social media so that it reached out to him and it did reach. I felt all these might have troubled him and hence apologised. He wrote ‘I am humbled and very overwhelmed. I will surely let you know if there are any auditions’.” DIvya later shared that she wishes to do relevant roles and not take up similar kind of reality shows. On the professional front, Divya currently has been working on many endorsements and will be seen in a dating reality show as a host. She also has a fashion brand.

Divya had shared a picture on Instagram where she was posing with her brother and two cars that she bought recently. Divya shared a caption on the post saying “I welcome home … my lil beast! TOYOTA HYRYDER. I love the way I lead my life.. the entire credit of my existence goes to my father.. it was my dream to gift a luxury car to my father.. I’m a little late for it.. but guess what ??? He was as stubborn as me.. like always, he kept his kids before him…he got me this car.. I miss him at every milestone of my life.. the strength and power he gave me to become who I am today will be enough for all my life.. he lives within me… My polo has gone to a beautiful village in Maharashtra and that family will enjoy my polo as their first car too… THANK YOU #grateful.”

On her birthday, Divya was seen having a blast and later when she came out in front of the media the actress revealed that she is engaged to her best friend Apurva Padgaonkar who proposed her on her birthday. Divya shared her happiness with BT “Life has come full circle. I have known Apurva for a long time and we dated each other between 2015 and 2018, but then we drifted apart. However, we continued to keep in touch. He was always that friend who I could go to any time. After Varun and I broke up in March 2022, I was going through a tough phase. Apurva was there for me like a best friend, who stood by me like rock. So, though I was not expecting a proposal, in my mind I knew that he was the kind of guy I wanted to marry.”

Divya had shared a post on her Instagram where she thanked her instructor and friend Carmen Khabbaz for showing her the path. She further stated that she is a certified healer. Divya wrote “Last few days have been really special to me.. I was always fond of spirituality and believed that I always felt better making anyone and everyone’s life better… I met a beautiful soul @carmenkhabbaz 2 years back who showed me a different light of life… I’m very proud to say that I’m a certified healer.
