From allegedly going missing for 26 days to being hospitalized; Times Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Gurucharan Singh made headlines

Gurucharan Singh, well-known for his performance in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, has been hospitalised. On Tuesday, the actor posted a video from his hospital bed, warning fans that he was in ill health. His message has caused alarm among his admirers and well-wishers, who are wishing for a rapid recovery. A look at times when Taarak Mehta actor Gurucharan made headlines.

Bhakti shared, "I haven’t met him, but his mother used to keep me informed. His health has been very poor. At one point, he was hospitalized but was taken back home. Unfortunately, his condition worsened again, leading to another hospital admission. Currently, he is admitted to a government hospital."

She also spoke about his financial struggles, "He had a debt of about Rs 1.2 crore. However, his father owns a property worth ₹55 crore. Unfortunately, there is an ongoing dispute as the tenants are not vacating the property. If the matter gets resolved and the property is sold, he should be able to clear his loan. When he needs support the most, no one, including his family members, is helping him. It’s only friends like me and one friend in Delhi who have been supporting him financially."

Jennifer Mistry opened up about Gurucharan hoping to aid his financial issues with Bigg Boss, "I am very worried for Gurucharan Singh. I tried calling him a day before yesterday, but his number remained out of service. I feel sad for his parents as they are very old. Gurucharan and I were approached for Bigg Boss. We also had discussions with the makers. In fact, Gurucharan was fully dependent on Bigg Boss for monetary reasons. He was very sure that he would enter the show, and his financial issues would get resolved. However, nothing happened."

Taarak Mehta's producer Asit Kumarr Modi shared, "Gurucharan is a good person and I’m emotionally connected to him. My wife and kids love and adore him. He was going through issues in between and I just pray for him that he gets out of the troubled times."

He further revealed that Gurucharan quit the show, "He decided to leave the show on his own. It was his decision, we never asked him to go. He also feels now that he should have been a part of the show and he likes the show. It’s been 16 years to TMKOC and people have their personal reasons to leave the show and you can’t expect anyone to be a part of your show forever. Still, most of the actors have been associated with TMKOC and it is a big achievement. It is a daily show."

Gurucharan went missing on April 22. His father requested aid from law enforcement agencies to locate him. The Taarak Mehta actor stunned everyone when he went gone for almost a month. Following his disappearance, other developments emerged, including the actor using approximately 27 email addresses and conducting a few transactions. However, he returned home safely on May 18, 2024, debunking all conspiracy theories.

According to authorities, Gurcharan informed the officials that he had left this world and was on a religious pilgrimage. During this time, he visited Gurudwaras in several towns, including Amritsar and Ludhiana, but eventually returned home. Gurucharan is most known for his role as Sodhi in the program.

Gurucharan's father lodged a missing complaint, which read, "My son Gurucharan Singh, age: 50 years, to go to Mumbai on 22nd April at 8:30 am. Had come out. He went to the airport to catch the flight. He neither reached Mumbai nor returned home and his phone is not available. He is mentally stable and we were searching for him but now he is missing."
