Forests over cities: Bhabhiji actress Shubhangi Atre on why nature is her true escape
Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain actress Shubhangi Atre calls herself an avid traveller, and she says the credit goes to her parents. “I inherited my love for travel from my dad!” she laughs. “Both my mom and dad love to travel, and I grew up watching them explore new places with joy. I’ve always had a strong desire to see different places, meet new people and experience different cultures. I guess it’s in my genes.”
Shubhangi makes it a point to travel at least once a year, sometimes more. “It used to be tough earlier, but now I get enough time off from my current show to plan short or long trips. Life is too short and there’s so much to see. I love to travel and I manage to balance work and leisure well,” she adds.
Sharing her travel mantra, she says, “Enjoy the journey. Don’t travel just to tick places off your list. I enjoy solo trips when I need peace. I carry my books, play calming meditation music and head to quiet natural spots. I don’t enjoy cities, I love forests, wildlife and beaches. Nature is my happy place. For me, travel is about relaxation, not sightseeing. Living in Mumbai, we face chaos and traffic,” she says. So what’s always in her bag? “Comfortable clothes, a good book and my mini speaker. I can’t travel without music.”
As for future plans, Shubhangi reveals, “A bike trip from Manali to Ladakh tops my list. I also want to visit all the Buddhist monasteries in that region and explore tiger reserves and natural spots.”
