Telly show Firangi Bahu deals with a Western girl who comes to stay in her sasural in India. The light-hearted family show revolves around British girl Camili Jonathan, who marries into the conservative Desai family in Rajkot (Gujarat). The story starts when Pranay Desai (Rohit Bhardwaj), the youngest son of the family, meets Camili (Sippora Zoutewelle) in London, where he has gone for higher studies.
Through her eyes, Pranay begins to see India in a new light and starts valuing things he had overlooked over the years. In the process, he falls in love with her. But aware of his conservative family, he decides to get married before returning to India. The show also stars Indira Krishna, Pranoti Pradhan, Deepmala Parmar, Dilip Darbar, Hetal Puniwala and Paresh Bhatt.
Sharad Raj, Content and Programming Head of the channel, says, “This is the first time that a foreigner is playing a bahu in a Hindi serial. The subject provides sufficient scope for drama and lighter moments. Viewers will enjoy watching a European lady adapt to a conservative Gujarati family.”
Firangi Bahu launches tonight and will air Monday to Friday at 7.30 pm on Sahara One.
