Farah Khan: I started cooking in college, we couldn't afford to have a cook in those days

“I am not a gourmet chef, I am a home chef! People love eating my home-cooked yakhni pulao and sindhi kadhi,” said choreographer and filmmaker Farah Khan, who is all set to host the upcoming season of cooking reality show Celebrity MasterChef. In an exclusive chat with BT, Farah shared how she got passionate about cooking as a college student. She said, “We could not afford a cook in those days. My grandmother was losing her eyesight, and she used to mix up ingredients while cooking and so I took up the responsibility of cooking at home when I was a college student. Over the years, I grew passionate about cooking. Everyone knows how I enjoy hosting my industry friends at home.”

The choreographer-filmmaker and TV show host, who enjoys cooking home food shares how she loves cooking for her three children. She said, "When you go out on holidays, my kids love eating international cuisine; but after a few days, every one yearns for home-cooked food and that's when I step in for my children. They love eating my puri-bhaji, khichdi, pulao and I enjoy cooking for them. In the past few years, I have enjoyed holidaying with my kids and cooking for them."

On a lighter note, the Happy New Year filmmaker shares how her friends enjoy eating her home cooked food. She said, “Last month when I threw a Christmas party feast, I had cooked roast chicken, kebabs, mutton curry and someone yelled how people were eating as if they had starved for days. I am glad that people love my home cooked food and I enjoy being the host."
