Exclusive - Yuvika Chaudhary opens up about her struggle with painful breastfeeding; says 'Main chilla chilla ke roti thi'
Yuvika Chaudhary, who welcomed a baby girl in October last year, is currently embracing the joys of motherhood. However, the early months were far from easy, as she went through a tough and painful phase, facing numerous challenges along the way. In an exclusive conversation with Times of India TV, Yuvika candidly spoke about the struggles she faced during breastfeeding, revealing that the pain was so intense she would often cry out loud, saying, "Main chilla chilla ke roti thi."
Speaking about the challenging breastfeeding journey, "The initial phase was very tough when I had just delivered my baby. Main chilla chilla ke roti thi. Mere liye feeding was a big struggle. I did not know how to feed my baby. When my daughter was born she was healthy and her weight was good. Suddenly, it started dropping. Then my doctor told me she’s looking weak. I started feeling guilty that I was not able to feed my baby. Bahot zyaada guilt aagaya tha mere andar. I used to cry a lot ke main apne bacche ko feed nahi kar paa rahi. Then the doctor used to come and tell me to worry, every mother goes through this."
Yuvika, now a mother to six-month-old daughter Ikleen, shared that in the beginning, she struggled with latching and wasn’t able to breastfeed her baby properly, which made the experience even more difficult. "I was not able to latch my baby for breastfeeding, it took me a month. The doctors told me not to worry and they taught me. Due to stress I was not lactating much so I was taking medicines for that and I didn’t know how to feed. It used to hurt so much that I used to cry a lot. Using a pump to extract milk, it was even more painful. This was my real struggle and I used to wonder when I would be able to feed her," she said.
The Om Shanti Om actress further spoke about how the mother-daughter duo overcame all the challenges and she is enjoying the motherhood phase to the fullest, she said, "Par kehte hain na baccha apne aap sikh leta hai. My daughter learnt on her own and managed it beautifully. But when the doctor told me for the first time that she has lost weight my heart sank. Main bola mujhe 15 days dedo. I used to feed her day and night and it became like a passion. I became an obsessive mother. Now, I feed her throughout the day and our nanny takes care of her. Night time is ours we play, I read to her and she also knows the night time is mamma and hers."
