Exclusive - Yeh Rishta's Jay Soni on being trolled by #Abhira fans: Targeting someone personally is totally wrong, but kuch toh log kahenge...

Jay Soni, who is currently seen in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai as Abhinav, is getting a lot of love and appreciation from the fans. The actor is enjoying the phase and how his character has shaped up in the show. He recently joined ETimes TV for exclusive chat where he spoke about the success of his character Abhinav, his bond with his on-screen son Abhir. It is always good for an actor to get appreciation for his or her work. Actors live for these moments. I want to be loyal and honest with my work and towards the character that I am playing. It is also a responsibility and I try my best to do my job to my best of the ability. My focus is entirely on my character and I want to do complete justice to my role. (Photo: Instagram)

I was never skeptical of taking up the role. Had I been very thoughtful about the role, I would have not been able to portray the role because I am very choosy about the roles I take up. But when I was offered Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai there was no thinking. I just grabbed the opportunity with both hands. This show has something, whosoever has touched this show, it has become good for their career. I felt I should also do justice, aur main bhi Is Ganga mein nahana chahunga .. (laughs). I have a lot of fun when I am shooting with Abhir (Shreyansh Kaurav). We start playing Rock, Paper, scissor, then we also play thumb fight. We keep laughing and playing. In fact, if there is no shoot we both miss it. He is an intelligent boy, very sweet, understanding and ahead of his age. I told his mother the other day that he is truly a well brought up kid. I share a very different bond with him. We play a lot and have a lot of fun and it is very good. Abhir and Abhinav how they are off-screen is what translates on-screen. (Photo: Instagram)

Being a father in real life helps a lot. I know the tricks to work with kids, you make them understand and be comfortable with them so that you develop a bond. If they are not comfortable with you, they won’t be able to perform well. Kids are very innocent and natural and you should know how to show that on camera, I try to create that bond. I do understand that it is a part and parcel of playing the role. I don’t blame them also because they are attached and connected to the characters for so long and obviously they will feel bad if there’s a new entry. But they don't know the other side of the story, I mean the actors' side, fans don’t know. When they take you wrong, you feel a bit disappointed. They don’t know what kind of person I am so I think they should understand that we are just actors and we are doing our jobs what we are being told. (Photo: Instagram)

Now, I have grown up on what all they will say, “Kuch toh log kahenge”… but I just say only one thing while doing my job, Bhagwan main Apna kaam kar raha hoon, Baaki aap dekh lena… for me my work is everything and I worship my work. I want to do it with full honesty. Fans can criticise. I am fine with it, you are connected with someone, I understand how you must be feeling but targeting someone personally is totally wrong. It is not just for me I am saying. See I’ve my family, I go back to them and they comfort me, but people who are trolling others they don’t know what the other person is going through. They just write but they don’t know how much that comment is going to hurt the other person and for how long it is going to stay with them. (Photo: Instagram)

Fans should consider this, that they are enjoying trolling someone, but they should also think for others. There are two things, either your good message, comment can make an actor’s day or can spoil with one bad comment. It can affect someone mentally. In today’s time everyone is leading a stressful life, why increase that stress. In general I am saying we have social media and we can use that in a better way. I have no issue when people say we want our favourite pair back. I know and accept it but it is not in the actor’s hand, they are just doing their job what they have been asked to do. But there is another side, when I get sweet messages saying don’t get disheartened with such comments we are there. I say main unse bhi upset nahi hoon who are sending negative messages. If you use some abusive language I will obviously block you. Agar mere ghar ki dewar par koi thook ke jaayega I will obviously clean it. I will stop the entry of that person.
